Many industries and states have complex sets of standards that have deep nesting hierarchies of outcomes and sub-outcomes, even sub-sub outcomes. Coursetune has three distinct levels of nesting outcomes for mapping and uses the four structural levels to map to. To get the most out of your mapping data, an outcome set may need to move up a level in your Coursetune hierarchy. The decision to upgrade an outcome set at any level will depend upon the reporting needs of each organization. This article will show you how to upgrade an outcome set to make the most of your mapping.
There are two ways to do this; from the Mapping Batch Editor, or by exporting and importing an outcome set. The difference? Choosing to use the Upgrade feature will retain any mappings whereas exporting and importing the set will not. We recommend only using the export/import method if there are no mappings present.
As a Coursetune Manager, there are four types of outcome sets you can upgrade. The higher level the set, the more role permissions are controlled:
- Level 1: Three designated users can create, edit, and delete Level-1 sets.
- Level 2: Level 2 managers can upgrade a Level-4 set to Level-3, and also upgrade Level-3 set to a Level-2 set.
- Level 3 Level 4: Level 3 managers can upgrade a Level-4 set to Level-3 set.

Exporting and Importing from Coursetune |
Exporting Step 1: As an Editor or Manager, you can export outcome sets to move to different levels (with proper level permissions). First, make sure you're on the correct level, and turn on edit mode. Click on the outcome set in the right panel, and then click on the editing pencil. Step 2: The Mapping Batch Editor will open. Click the download button, and choose a format (xslx, yml, or json). Save it to your device, or find it directly in your downloads folder when importing. Importing Step 1: If you are ready to move and import the outcome set, navigate to the destination folder (division level 2, program level 3, or course level 4), and make sure edit mode is turned on. Click on the Plus sign + in the right panel. Step 2: In the panel, click the desired import format button, find your file and click Add. The outcome set will now show in the right panel. |
Canvas and Moodle are files generated specifically to be imported into the LMS. See the Related Article section for more information. |
