- What if I need to make my outcome set into an outcome with sub-outcomes?
Many industries and states have complex sets of standards that have deep nesting hierarchies of outcomes and sub-outcomes, even sub-sub outcomes. Coursetune has three distinct levels of nesting outcomes for mapping. To get the most out of your mapping data, new outcome sets may need to be created or embedded into other outcome sets. The decision to separate out nested outcomes into their own sets will depend upon the reporting needs of each organization. This article will show you how to convert the sets to make the most of your mapping.
As an Editor or Manager, you may decide to roll an entire outcome set (title and outcomes) into another existing set, where they will become an outcome with sub-outcomes, without losing any mappings. The Batch Mapping Editor makes this conversion easy.
It is important to note that outcome sets can only be converted at the same level or higher. For example, if you would like to convert a program level (level-3) outcome set, it may only be converted to a program (level-3) outcome or higher.
If you do not have an existing set to move the converted set into, you can create one first. Refer to this article: How do I create an outcome set?
Step 1: First, make sure you're on the desired level, and turn on edit mode. Then, select the outcome set you wish to convert, and click the editing pencil next to it.
Step 2: The Batch Mapping Editor will open. Click on the gear in the upper right corner, and then select Convert set to outcome.
If there are existing sub-outcomes, those cannot be converted, and you will need to delete them. This error message will open.
Step 3: Select the desired destination outcome set from the Put into... drop-down menu, and click Convert. The newly converted outcome will now be in the right panel, with the sub-outcomes nesting inside. All previous mappings will be retained.
The Batch Mapping Editor also allows you to upgrade outcome sets to higher levels. For more information, read this article: How do I upgrade an outcome set?
