- Can I export a course an .xlsx file?
- Can I export a .csv?
Even when we feel like we want to ditch spreadsheets entirely, there can still be some good reasons not to. The first question to ask is if this will save the team time and resources? Or will it create detrimental versioning and confusion outside of CourseTune?
For this reason, there are just two use cases we would advise doing this for:
- Integrations - Exporting data and importing that data into another system. Some of your systems may only accept .csv uploads. Once you have exported your .xlsx file, you can save it as a .csv
- Dashboards (home grown) - Many schools have created cool, dynamic tools for their learning analytics. While you could use our APIs, sometimes exporting as an .xlsx will also get you what you need.
Who can do this? Editors and managers, and admins.
Step 1: Ready to export your course? If you are an Editor or Manager, begin at your course (level-4 object), and click on the Reports and Data icons in the upper right panel. Click on Export in the bottom of the right panel.
Step 2: Choose .xlsx, and click OK in the Are You Sure? notification.
Note: When exporting your course in this in this format, only the basic course and bundle layer information will be included in the export. No mappings, c-layer information or activities will be exported.
Step 3: Once exported, inside the file you will see many tabs. The first tab is the basic course (level-4 object) information. The course title, number and description will generate here, if they exist.
The next tab will be the bundle information. The bundle numbers, IDs, names and descriptions will generate here, if they exist.
The subsequent tabs will be the individual bundle learning objectives. Each tab will generate the LO IDs, full descriptions and LO scale levels, if they exist.
