To set up Coursetune in your Blackboard instance, you must be an admin in both accounts. You will do this in two steps:
- Register the Provider Domain
- Place the Coursetune tool
Step 1- Register the Provider Domain
First, login to your Coursetune account. Then, click on the hamburger button in the top bar, and select "Integrations" from the drop down menu.
Select "Blackboard Integrations" from the drop down menu.
You will copy the Consumer Key and Shared Secret from this panel to paste into Blackboard later.
In a separate browser tab, log in to Blackboard as an administrator and click on "Admin" to navigate to the "Administrator Tools" panel.
Once in Admin Tools, find "LTI Tool Providers" in the "Integrations" panel.
Click on the button "Register LTI 1.1 Provider".
You will now register Coursetune as a Provider.
Fill in the "Provider Domain" field with app.coursetune.com
Next, in the "Default Configuration" section, mark the “Set globally” radio button (1). Then, navigate back to your Coursetune account "LTI Integration" settings panel.
Copy "Consumer Key" from Coursetune and paste into the "Tool Provider Key" in Blackboard (2).
Copy "Shared Secret" from Coursetune and paste into the "Tool Provider Secret" in Blackboard (3).
Under the "Institution Policies" panel, mark the “Send user data over any connection” radio button (4), then check "Role in Course", "Name", "Email Address" (5). Click Submit to save changes (6).
Step 2- Place the Coursetune tool link
You are automatically returned to the "LTI Tool Providers" page. Now, click on the number in the “Placements” column (this should be zero when first created).
Select the line with the Coursetune address and right-click. Select Manage Placement.
From this panel, click on "Create Placement".
In the "Placement Information" section, fill in "Label" and "Handle" fields with "Coursetune"
Mark the "Availability" (yes) radio button, and verify that the "Type" radio button is marked (Course tool) and that the "Allow Student access" is unchecked.
In the "Tool Provider Information" section, set the "Tool Provider URL" as the LTI launch page https://app.coursetune.com/LTI. (You can directly copy this URL from the Coursetune "LTI Integrations" panel, as well).
The "Tool Provider Key" and "Tool Provider Secret" should be automatically filled if you set them globally as an LTI Provider Tool" in step 1. Click "Submit" to save changes.
For the Coursetune LTI tool to appear in “Course Tools,” you will need to have an instructor with a valid Coursetune account enrolled in the course.
If the LTI tool has been configured correctly, the integration should automatically be populated when you open or view the course and then expand the Course Tools menu.
Clicking on Coursetune will now walk you through the steps to link your Blackboard course with a Coursetune course.
Now, faculty and staff will be able to access Coursetune. They can link their Blackboard course to their Coursetune course and edit their Coursetune course while in Blackboard. Here are some instructor-facing directions to share with them:
