How do I import from Common Cartridge?

Common Cartridge is a set of open standards developed by 1EdTech (formerly IMS Global Learning Consortium) to enable interoperability between digital learning resources and various educational platforms.

The Common Cartridge import adds module titles, LO placeholders, and activity titles to Coursetune.

Follow these instructions to import from Common Cartridge:

1. Turn on editing.
2. Click the edit pencil near the course core.
3. From the Edit Course modal, click the Import from LMS button.
4. Click the appropriate option to import from Common Cartridge.
   1. Note: If the course has not been linked to the LMS, only the import from Common Cartridge option will be visible.
      
      
      
      
5. Follow the steps, which are described in more detail below:
   

A. Export the course as a Common Cartridge (documentation).

B. Change the file extension from .imscc to .zip.

C. Open .zip file.

D. Click the Import button below, and select the imsmanifest.xml file.

A. Export the course as a Common Cartridge

NOTE: Each LMS instance controls the availability and placement of the Common Cartridge course export. If you cannot locate the export by following the instructions below, check the specific documentation for your campus's LMS.

• Brightspace D2L (add link when published)

B. Change the file extension from .imscc to .zip.

Rename the file extension so that .imscc becomes .zip. You may be prompted to confirm the file extension change.

C. Open .zip file.

D. Click the Import button in Coursetune, and select the imsmanifest.xml file; then choose Open.

 

The import will add module and activity titles to Coursetune.
