Multiple activities of the same type can also be edited at the same time.
For example, you can edit all Discussions at the same time.
However, you cannot edit all activities in the same module at the same time.
Locate Bulk Edit button
Bulk edit is available from two locations:
- Step 4 of the Add Activity flow when “one activity for each LO” or “one activity for each module” is selected.
- Edit Pencil to the right of an activity type in the Activity Panel.
View Bulk Edit Table
The Bulk Edit table allows customization of activity properties, which help demonstrate variety:
- Type (Required) - a defined list of activity types. Each type is categorized as Learning or Assessment, which are used to visualize and report the balance of activities.
- Name (Required) - the title as it will appear in reports. Descriptive names such as “Chapters 1-3” are better than numeric names like “Quiz 1.” Be aware that Catalyst exports append Module # and other details to the title.
- Description - in Catalyst, the instructions for students; if not using Catalyst, the description can be high-level for reporting purposes
- Activity ID - user specified, often for reporting purposes
- Assets - URLs that can be included for reports; does not export in Catalyst
- Modality - designate as online, face-to-face, or hybrid
- Engagement - indicate whether passive or active with options like interaction with peers
- Grading - low-high stakes, participation, or social accountability
- Time - estimated time students should invest in the activity; used in reports for calculating coverage
- Points - points are used in reports for calculating coverage
