- How do I know how much assessment exists in my course?
Need a quick way to identify places in a course with too much or too little assessment? Anyone with viewing roles or higher in Coursetune can see all the data in one place. This report generates all the data connecting learning objectives to the C-Layer elements (like course objectives), learning scales (like Bloom’s), activities, and assessments. It can be used to audit course scaffolding, assessment diversity, and competency-based learning models.
A good quality assurance review for a course examines the alignment of assessments to the learning objectives and c-layer. The Course Assessment Alignment section of the report shows the alignment and gaps from the perspective of the assessments, organized by modules. If an assessment crosses multiple modules, we place it in the terminal module for this report and show the alignment to the LOs within that module and to the full c-layer.
Used by: Faculty, adjuncts, program chairs, and can answer questions such as:
- Are we supporting the learning for each course objective with both assessed and
non-assessed activities? - Are the activities and assessments appropriate for the Bloom’s levels (or other depth
of knowledge scale)? - Do the activities scaffold across the course?
Step 1: Ready to create your report? To find it, you need to start on the course level. Next, click on Data and Reports in the right panel.
Step 2: In the Course Alignment Report panel, choose to:
- Include Bundle and Number
- Include LO IDs
- Include LO Scales

Question, where are the "Competencies" coming from in this report? Is it a mapping set for this course? Or are they c-layer items?
Thank you,
Lynn
Hi Lynn, that is a great question! The Competencies here are indeed the C-layer items, and which change in name depending upon what you are calling the C-layers. I hope this helps!
Yes, that helps! Thanks much.
