Who can do this? Editors and managers with rights to the source level-4 object, and admins
You might want to read this article to understand permissions on level-4 objects in a sharing relationship (source and proxy level-4 objects): Who can do what in a shared level-4 object?
A shared level-4 object can only be edited at its original location (we call this a source level-4 object). For example, if the math department shares a level-4 object with the general education department, the level-4 object can only be edited from the original, source level-4 object, located in the math department. The general education department has a proxy for the source level-4 object.
All edits from the source level-4 object will cascade to the proxy level-4 objects. If the source level-4 object is deleted, the proxy level-4 objects will be removed from all other level-3 folders they have been shared to.
To know if you are on a proxy or source level-4 object in a shared relationship, look for the icon in the upper right of the level-4 object center. (1- Proxy; 2- Source)
You cannot make changes to the proxy level-4 object (changes must be made to the source level-4 object). However, if you have editing rights in the level-3 folder containing the proxy, you will be able to map to level-3 outcomes.
If you have rights to edit the source level-4 object, then editing the source level-4 object will result in changes to all the corresponding proxy level-4 objects.
Editing a source level-4 object is exactly the same as editing a normal level-4 object. With proper rights for the source level-4 object, you can add, delete, or edit c-layer elements, bundles, learning objectives, activities, and mappings.
