How do team roles work with levels?

Curriculum alignment isn't a single-person experience--it takes a team!

For example, you'll need some people to edit entire course collections at Level 3, and you'll want some of your team to just be viewers of a specific course. Within Coursetune, you can define who gets access to what in each of the four levels (Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4). Naming is flexible within the application, so check your default settings and customizable names to ensure you are on the correct level you want.

Roles can be defined at specific levels as follows:

User Roles Abbreviations Key:

• V = viewer
• C = commenter
• E = editor
• M = manager

Example Scenario: A College Algebra course (level-4 object) sits within the Math Department program (Level 3) and the Arts & Sciences College (Level 2). We have a math instructor named Fran who is working on the import of her Algebra course.  Fran could have all the following roles:

• Viewer at the institution- Fran can see every division, program and courses in the institution, but she cannot see comments or make changes unless she has been granted higher permissions elsewhere. 
• Commenter for the Math Department (Level 3) - inside this program, Fran can make suggestions on courses and participate in discussions
• Editor on the College Algebra course- In addition to the commenting rights Fran already has in the Math Department, she can also edit anything in the design of the College Algebra course and map the College Algebra course to outcomes in the Mapping panel.

Note: If a user is an admin, they are an admin for the entire institution (level-1 folder). However, being an admin does not mean that someone would receive notifications on all the courses (level-4 objects) in Coursetune. An admin will only receive communications for a course if they are added with a particular course or program (level-3 folder) role on the team.
