Assessments and Learning Activities are the designed activities that your learners participate in, what Coursetune refers to as the "How" students learn. Some examples of Learning Activities are lectures, discussions, readings, research, and projects. Assessments include things like papers, exams, and quizzes.
Assessments and Learning Activities are built upon learning objectives within your bundles. Learning objectives must exist before creating activities and assessments because that's what creates the alignment to not only "What" students are learning and "When" but also "Why." Each activity can span one or more learning objectives (LOs) and shows up as an arc outside the abbreviated LOs.

Adding activities to a normal course:
Adding activities to a course variation:
To add a single activity to a normal course
Step 1- Ready to build your assessments and activities? First, you need to be at the course (level-4 object) level and have Edit mode turned on. You'll see the Activities icon in the upper right panel; click on that icon.
Step 2- Once in the Activities panel, you can click on the plus sign + to begin the 3-step process.
To add a single activity to a course variation
Step 1- From the course (level-4 object) level, select the desired course variation, and turn on Edit mode. Click on the Activities Icon.
Step 2- Click on the plus sign + and choose Add single Activity. Click on Next to begin the 3-step process.
Now, you will walk through a 4-step process to create one activity or many.
Whether you are adding activities to a regular course or to a course variation, this 4-step process is the same.
Step 1: Choose the learning objectives spanned by the activity or activities.
In this first step, choose all the learning objectives (LOs) spanned by the activity or activities (1). You can click on the bundle to select all the LOs in the bundle, or click on individual LOs to choose them one by one. Clicking a second time on the LO or bundle will remove the LO(s) from the activity.
When you have selected all the relevant LOs for the activity, click the 2 or the Next button (2).

Step 2: Select Distribution and Set Type and Name
(1) Select how to distribute the activity or activities among the selected LOs.
- One activity for all LOs creates 1 activity that spans all LOs.
- In the screenshot above, 1 activity spans 9 activities.
- One activity for each LO creates 1 activity per selected LO.
- In the screenshot above, 9 activities would be created, each spanning one LO.
- One activity for each bundle creates 1 activity that spans the selected LOs per bundle.
- In the screenshot above, 3 activities would be created, each spanning the selected LOs in modules 1, 2, and 3.
(2) Choose the activity type (required).
Each activity type will default to either Assessment or Learning. Because of this, you will not be able to choose that setting individually in this step, unless you change the setting in the Activities Settings panel (see How do I change the default settings for Assessments and Learning Activities?).
If you have set the default of an activity type to Choose Individually (through the Activities Settings panel), you will see either (Assessment) or (Learning) next to that activity type in the right panel.
You will only see (Assessment) and (Learning) by the activities if you have a type that has both created. In the example below, you can see the Assignments contain both.
(3) Name the activity (required). For reports to be most helpful, names should be descriptive of the work students will complete.
Add any additional information as needed:
A) Description of the activity (optional).
B) Activity Id (optional)
C) Rubric (optional)
D) Click Add Assets to add links to outside documents (optional).
Click 3 or Next if you want to specify activity properties like time and points or click Save to create the activities. If you selected the distribution options "one activity for each LO" or "one activity for each bundle," you will be taken to the Bulk Edit view.
Step 3: Define the activity properties
Defining properties for an activity is optional. Time and points are required in the activity reports. Selecting modality, engagement, and grading options can provide valuable information for articulating curriculum plans and alignment throughout the organization and to your accrediting bodies.
Step 4: Use as Default or Bulk Edit.
If you selected "one activity for all LOs", the final step in Activity creation allows you to temporarily save the properties set in Step 3 and apply them for any activities created of the same type.
For example, if all of your quizzes are 15 minutes, 10 points, and in person, you can set those properties for the first quiz and any new activity set to type "quiz" will have those same properties.
You can tell an activity type has saved properties when the Type dropdown has the settings icon.
If you selected "one activity for each LO" or "one activity for each bundle," the final step in Activity creation allows you to click Edit Activities to revise all the activities at once.

View Activity or Activities
When the activity is saved, you'll see the activity appear in the Activity List. Clicking on one will show you all of the relevant information in the Descriptions panel, included any asset links you may have added.
