Assessments and Learning Activities are the designed activities that your learners participate in, what Coursetune refers to as the "How" students learn. Some examples of Learning Activities are lectures, discussions, readings, research, and projects. Assessments include things like papers, exams, and quizzes.
Assessments and Learning Activities are built upon learning objectives within your bundles. Learning objectives must exist before creating activities and assessments because that's what creates the alignment to not only "What" students are learning and "When" but also "Why." Each activity can span one or more learning objectives (LOs) and shows up as an arc outside the abbreviated LOs.

Adding activities to a normal course:
Adding activities to a course variation:
To add a single activity to a normal course
Step 1- Ready to build your assessments and activities? First, you need to be at the course (level-4 object) level and have Edit mode turned on. You'll see the Activities icon in the upper right panel; click on that icon.
Step 2- Once in the Activities panel, you can click on the plus sign + to begin the 3-step process.
To add a single activity to a course variation
Step 1- From the course (level-4 object) level, select the desired course variation, and turn on Edit mode. Click on the Activities Icon.
Step 2- Click on the plus sign + and choose Add single Activity. Click on Next to begin the 3-step process.
Now, you will walk through a 3-step process to create the activity.
Whether you are adding activities to a regular course or to a course variation, this 3-step process is the same.
Step 1: Choose the learning objectives spanned by the activity
In this first step, choose all the learning objectives (LOs) spanned by the activity (1). You can click on the bundle to select all the LOs in the bundle, or click on individual LOs to choose them one by one. Clicking a second time on the LO or bundle will remove the LO(s) from the activity.
When you have selected all the relevant LOs for the activity, click the Next button (2).
Note: Don't have learning objectives in Coursetune? Read this article to learn how to build assessments and activities that aren't tied to any LOs: How do I create an Assessment or Learning Activity that isn't tied to any LOs?
Step 2: Choose the activity type
In this step, you choose the activity type (required), name the activity (required), and write a description of the activity (optional). You can click Add Assets to add links to outside documents (optional).
An arc will appear to show you the LOs that are spanned by the activity you are creating (3). Click Next (4) when you are ready to proceed to step 3.
Note: Each activity type will default to either Assessment or Learning. Because of this, you will not be able to choose that setting individually in this step, unless you change the setting in the Activities Settings panel (see How do I change the default settings for Assessments and Learning Activities?).
If you have set the default of an activity type to Choose Individually (through the Activities Settings panel), you will see either (Assessment) or (Learning) next to that activity type in the right panel.
Note: You will only see (Assessment) and (Learning) by the activities if you have a type that has both created. In the example below, you can see the Assignments contain both.
Step 3: Defining the properties of the activity
Defining properties for an activity is optional. You may choose to just Save at this step. However, defining properties like modality, engagement, and grading, can provide valuable graph views and the Activities Report for articulating curriculum plans and alignment throughout the organization and to your accrediting bodies.
Tip: Save some time by checking the Use as default for new [activity type]. Checking this box will ensure that all assessments or activities of this certain type will be created automatically with these properties. For example, if all of your quizzes are 15 minutes, 10 points and in person, you can set those properties for the first quiz and subsequently all newly created quizzes.
When the activity is saved, you'll see the activity appear in the Activity List. Clicking on one will show you all of the relevant information in the Descriptions panel, included any asset links you may have added.
